Splice is the weakest location in the conveyor belt and it needs to be attended with care. Research made in improving the behavior of the splice under bulk loads, safety factor and reducing the splice length resulting in reduced cost. This was possible due to best quality splice material and accurate geometry. The result is less failure of splice and the low maintenance. Good quality splice joints leads to withstanding higher cycling loads without affecting the elongation properties and the elasticity of the belt carcass. The splice comes with high flexing property.

Conveyor belt is spliced according to the geometry of the splice. To maintain cold joint cutting accuracy unlike hot vulcanizing there will be no rubber flowing resulting in gaps and hence poor joints. Inorder to avoid failure, the piles are buffed with emery grinder to make the surface rough and later cleaned with a wire brush and hair brush. The solution is applied on both surfaces and is left for 15 minutes to dry. For small belts two coats are enough, incase of large belts 3 coats are required. Allow the coats to dry in between application. After the final coat wait for 10 minutes and then join the surfaces without allowing air entrapment. Finally, roll with a roller.

While apply conveyor belt cold solutions follow these precautions:

1.Remove dirt, grease, oil and water before application of the cold solution

2.Keep away from high inflammable materials

3.Store container in cool dry place

4.The solution is perfect and there is no need for additional solvents as it might lead to separation. Dilution in any form is not recommended.
